Sometimes, being fabulous means having a great Friday night with your girlfriends. Art on 5th is meeting that demand with a new series of female-focused events held once a month at its newest endeavor, the Art of Jewelry which features the artistically-crafted jewelry designs of artisans from Austin and across the country.
The first Girls’ Night at the Gallery event is scheduled for Friday, January 29, 2010 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy a special cocktail made just for the occassion by Mixologist Garrett Mikell, who was recently named Bombay Sapphire's "Most-Inspired Bartender." The cocktail of Mikell's making, called the Shimmering Gem, will feature Bombay Sapphire Gin, fresh mint, lemon juice, simple syrup and champagne. Mikell is currently hard at work on the bar menu for Takoba, a new restaurant scheduled to open in East Austin this year which will feature interior Mexican cuisine and margaritas made from fresh-squeezed limes. Did I mention that Garrett's fabulous?!
The event will also feature complimentary mini-makeovers from Avante which recently opened a new location just off West 5th Street at 507 Pressler. Ladies will get their makeup refreshed and their hair styled by the talented stylists using Aveda products. It’s a great chance to try a new look while out with the girls! Dear Charli Photography will be on hand to capture a photo of the moment. In addition to 10 percent off jewelry purchases at the Art of Jewelry, ladies will also leave with a goody bag filled with coupons and samples from several Austin-based businesses.
Art on 5th and the Art of Jewelry will host monthly events just for the ladies but won’t turn the fellas away should they dare to venture into what is sure to be a crowd of fabulous Austin femme fatales. The Art of Jewelry is located within Art on 5th which is located at 1501 West 5th Street, where there is plenty of parking available for attendees. An RSVP sent to rachel@pickiepie.com is required to attend by noon on Friday, January 29, 2010. For more information on the Art of Jewelry or Art on 5th, go to
